How to Translate Your Shopify Product Tabs Into Any Language

If you're selling internationally on Shopify, you already know that customers prefer to shop in their native language. Translated product pages, checkout flows, and navigation are table stakes. But what about your product tabs? Until now, translating custom tab content has been a blind spot for most multilingual Shopify stores. That changes today.

Advanced Product Tabs now supports built-in translations — letting you deliver fully localized tab content to every customer, in every market you serve.

Why Multilingual Product Tabs Matter

Shopify makes it relatively straightforward to translate your core product data: titles, descriptions, SEO metadata. Tools like Shopify's own Translate & Adapt app or third-party solutions like LangShop and Weglot handle the heavy lifting for standard content types.

But here's the gap most merchants miss: third-party app content often doesn't get translated. Your product tabs — the ones holding your sizing guides, shipping policies, care instructions, ingredients, and FAQs — stay stuck in your base language. The result? A product page that's 90% localized and 10% confusing. That last 10% can be the difference between a conversion and a bounce.

Research consistently shows that consumers are more likely to purchase — and willing to pay more — when they can browse in their own language. Shopify's own data points to an average 13% increase in conversion rate when storefronts are translated into the buyer's local language. Leaving your product tabs untranslated undermines that investment.

Introducing Translations in Advanced Product Tabs

We've built native translation support directly into Advanced Product Tabs. Here's how it works.

Step 1: Choose Your Languages

Navigate to the Translations section in the app. You'll see a list of 182 supported languages. Select the ones relevant to your markets — whether that's German and French for your European customers, Japanese for your APAC expansion, or Arabic for the Middle East.

English is used as your base language by default. Every additional language you activate becomes available for content editing across all your tab groups.

Step 2: Add Translated Content to Your Tabs

Once your languages are configured, head to any tab group and open the Tabs editing view. You'll notice a new dropdown: "Edit content for" — with your base language and every activated language listed.

Select a language from the dropdown, and you can enter fully customized content for that specific locale. This isn't auto-translation. You have complete control over what each tab says in each language, so your German sizing guide reads like it was written by a German speaker, not run through a machine.

How It Works on the Storefront

When a customer views your store in their preferred language (set via Shopify Markets, a language switcher, or geolocation), Advanced Product Tabs automatically displays the matching translated tab content. If a translation doesn't exist for a particular language, the app falls back to your base English content — so nothing ever appears blank.

Who Is This For?

This feature is especially valuable if you:

  • Sell across multiple Shopify Markets with different language requirements

  • Need localized sizing charts, care instructions, or compliance information per region

  • Want full control over translated tab content rather than relying on machine translation that may miss nuance or context

  • Operate in regulated industries where accurate translated product information is a legal requirement (cosmetics, food supplements, electronics)

A Common Problem, Finally Solved

Many Shopify merchants have experienced the frustration of building a beautifully translated store only to discover their product tabs still display in English. Standard Shopify translation tools — and most third-party translation apps — don't reach into app-generated content. The workaround has historically been messy: duplicating tab groups, using conditional logic, or simply accepting a partially translated experience.

With native translation support in Advanced Product Tabs, that workaround is no longer necessary. Your tab content lives alongside your translations in a single, manageable interface.

Getting Started

The translations feature is available today. To start using it, open Advanced Product Tabs in your Shopify admin, navigate to Translations, select your languages, and begin adding localized content to your tabs.

The setup takes minutes, not hours — and the impact on your international customer experience is immediate.
